What is 4G, 3G and 2G Network? Difference and comparison between 2G vs 3G vs 4G.
We have been using internet in our mobile phones using 2G/3G/4G network. We see different speed of internet over each of them. Since the development of smart phones most of the internet browsing is done using our smart phones and most of the application also depends on the internet to provide its service to users.
The G of 2G/3G/4G stands for Generation, within each of those generations there are multiple standers/versions "half step" improvement. Current thrust is towards reaching the 5th Generation (5G) of mobile communication. Behind each of the technologies, there have been one or more breakthrough technologies that helped achieve the quantum inter-generation leap in the data rates.
Difference between 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G:
1. First Generation (1G) Network:
Completely analog Network , modulation shceme is analog FM modulation. This did not do data.
2. Second Generation (2G) Network:
At first, 2G Network was just 9.6Kbps is analog modem. Later 2.5G added digital data that is called (GPRS) which is the first internet network for many of you. After that 2.75G is developed for better and faster data transfer named (EDGE).
3. Third Generation (3G) Network:
3G network is the major breakthrough for the mobile phone internet industry, this led us to watch videos online in our mobile phones. Because of 3G smart phone market grew alot and replaced the need of computer to do internet stuffs and all.
This Network includes data but still onto circuit switched architecture. But, 3.5G came with faster data and added true always-on/packed data "HSPA" (H+) which change internet speed from 2mbps to 10+mbps. This is the most popular network in India, Nepal and many south asian countries. The speed of this network has raised upto 30 mbps.
4. Fourth Generation (4G) Network:
This the era of new broadband wireless network that changed the way of using smart phones and internet. This being popular and used in many parts of world , best aspect of 4G is the use of data services for everything. Internet is the back bone of voice calls and almost all communication methods. This wired internet network directly to mobile phone users. This network is not used only for mobile phones, this is being used with the help of hotspot dongle so that many people can use the same network. If you are using 4G then you one of the lucky person. This network came in picture in 2000 but deployed in 2010 and being developing and spreading all over the globe. This network supports data transfer rate upto 100mbps for mobile users and 1Gbps for immobile users. Wimax is the initial phase of 4G network which is being very popular in India nowadays.
5. Fifth Generation (5G) Network:
This will be the one of the greatest innovation in the history of technology which supports data transfer rate more than 1Gbps. It will be applicable for driverless cars, Radio surgery, 8K video transmission and obviously very fast internet browsing. At this time, there aren't any publicly agreed definitive standards that have been set as with previous generations so not a great deal of information is known about the specific technologies that are going good to be used.
5G is aimed to be launched around the year 2020. Speed is claimed to be 1Gbps to 10Gbps which is huge huge development.
